"Description: This is a tetsu tsuba which has what appears to be the remnants of a gold fukurin mimi. The kozuka and kogai hitsu-ana have ategane; they may have been filled at a later date than the time of making. The nakago ana has copper sekigane to ensure a good fit for the nakago of a sword. The omote has plant leaves cut from the hira of the tetsu tsuba. There are also other leaves in copper. The stems of the plants are in gold. There is hare looking upwards to the sky worked in silver. The ura has two flying geese with gold beaks and eyes. Below are aoi leaves worked in copper and silver floating on water in kebori en-graving. The mei reads: Banshu Akashi Ju, Umetada Yoshitsugu Saku; Umetada Yoshitsugu of Akashi in Harima Province made this. Umetada was working during the late Momoyama Period (1573-1615) and early Edo period (1603-1868). Umetada (1558-1631) is recognised as one of the early masters creating tsuba in the Edo Period. His work was included in the catalogue of the Japan-British Exhibition of 1910 held in London. His work is also seen in many of the major tsuba collections around the world. An iron tsuba with silver, copper and gold rabbit and plants." ,
