"Description: Wakizashi, large sword, is one of a pair to OJ65. Iron MOKKO shaped tsuba (hand guard) with gold inlay design of cranes and clouds. Kodzuka (small knife) handle is iron with raised gold decoration of twigs and leaves. The Wakizashi is signed BIZEN NOKUNI NOJU OSAPUNE HICHIBEJO SUKESADA. Dated 'a fortunate day in the 5th month of Kambun 4 (August 1664). Mistakenly its FUCHI (between blade bottom and tsuba) is not on the sword but rather the FUCHI of OJ310. Fuchi OJ90, matches the design of deer amongst dense foliage to the KASHIRA (pommel at end of handle) which is correctly on the sword. The saya is samegawa togidashi. The blades were made by different sword smiths. The mei of the katana reads: Bizen (no) Kuni Ju Osapune Hichebijo Sukesada. This means the sword was made by Hichebijo Sukesada of Osapune in Bizen Province. The sword is dated the 5th month of Kam-bun, August 1664. He was a smith of Maegashira rank. The blade has shinogi zukuri, torii sori and chu kissaki. The hamon is toran-ha with an o-maru boshi. The blade has a chip taken out of its edge near the kissaki, but the flaw is not fatal. The wakizashi reads: Takai Echizen no Kami Minamoto Nobuyoshi, a Maegashira ranked sword smith from Echizen province, no Kami is an honorific title. The date for the blade has been estimated by Bonhams as being around 1673. The blade has shinogi zukuri, chu kissaki, slight torii sori and ihori mune. The hamon sugu ko midare ha and jizo boshi. The swords have a matched pair of tsuba. The tsuba are tetsu, nade mokko gata, koniku kaku mimi with an omote, hirazogan design of cranes and clouds. The design is repeated on the ura. Wakizashi, large sword with iron mokko shaped tsuba. Tsuba has design of cranes and clouds. Kodzuka (small knife) handle with decoration of twigs and leaves." ,
