A similar series entitled \"Fine Beauties at Play\" (\"Seiro Bijin Asobi\") by Eizan also features courtesans from the Ebi-ya. Eizan specialised in depicting fashionable, young, beautiful women. The woman depicted in the print is a high class courtesan ('oiran') and she is shown accompanied by her page ('kamuro'). The woman's name is Hiyodori and she belonged to the Ebi-ya of Yoshiwara, a brothel in Edo's licensed pleasure quarters. The print may have been commissioned by a patron to advertise the services of this particular green house. The pink colour of cherry blossoms, although faded, can still be distinguished in the background. In Japanese culture the cherry blossom came to symbolise the transient beauty associated with youth and the evanescence of life. Cherry blossoms were associated with spring and life in the Yoshiwara." ,
