From Hokusai's most famous series, the \"36 Views\", which immortalised Mt Fuji. Originally Hokusai created a series of 36, owing to the popularity of the subject matter more designs were added so that the final series totalled 46 designs.\n The print depicts a fisherman and a small child positioned on top of a rocky outcrop, fishing with four cormorants on lines. In the foreground, violent waves surge around the rocks close to the shoreline, in contrast, the sea in the far distance is shown to be still and almost emptied of colour and detail. Subtle shades of blue are used to blend the horizon line with the body of the mountain. The outline of the mountain on the right extends downwards, forming a parallel with the fisherman's lines. In this print, Hokusai makes use of 'bokashizuri' or gradation printing to suggest the distant horizon and also to depict the grassy shore. The intense colour of the sky was captured using the newly imported dye, Prussian Blue ('Bero-ai')." ,
